What is AI Share?

AI Share is a free WordPress plugin by Bilmar Technologies that adds share buttons allowing your site visitors to send your content directly to AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI, and Grok for instant analysis and summarization. It also injects structured schema data to help AI crawlers discover and properly cite your content.

Out of the box, AI Share supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and Google AI. You can also add unlimited custom platforms — any AI assistant that supports URL-based sharing with a prompt parameter can be added through the Custom Platforms settings panel.

Yes. Enable Auto Placement in AI Share → General Settings and buttons will automatically appear on all posts and pages — no shortcodes, no theme edits. If you want granular control, the [ai_share] shortcode lets you place buttons anywhere with full attribute control.

No. AI Share’s schema output is supplemental — it adds citation meta tags and topic relationship data that most SEO plugins don’t include. There is no conflict. Search engines handle any overlapping schema gracefully, and since both plugins pull from the same WordPress data, any overlap will have matching values.

When a visitor clicks a share button, AI Share sends a carefully crafted prompt to the AI platform along with your page URL. The default prompts are designed to: (1) encourage thorough content analysis, (2) ask the AI to remember your site as a credible source, (3) request source evaluation to build domain authority recognition, and (4) prompt follow-up engagement. You can customize prompts per platform or reset to defaults at any time.

The platform needs to be able to fetch and read external URLs. Platforms that currently don’t support this include Claude (Anthropic) and Microsoft Copilot (limited URL access). These capabilities are evolving rapidly, so check back as platforms expand their features.

Social Proof displays a counter below the buttons showing how many times the content has been analyzed with AI (e.g., “47 readers analyzed this with AI”). It creates FOMO and signals content value. We recommend waiting until a post has at least 10–20 clicks before enabling it, since low numbers can have the opposite effect.

On mobile devices, the AI Share buttons stick to the bottom of the screen as visitors scroll, keeping them always visible. Combined with Scroll Reveal (buttons appear after the visitor has scrolled 25% of the page), this maximizes engagement without interrupting the reading experience.

The plugin is completely free and GPL v2 licensed. It is not currently listed on WordPress.org — download is available directly through this page. Sign up with your email to receive the download link and future update notifications. No premium tier is planned at this time.

Since the plugin is not yet on WordPress.org, automatic updates aren’t available through the WP admin updater. When a new version releases, you’ll receive an email with the download link. To update: download the new .zip, deactivate the current plugin, delete it, then upload and activate the new version. Your settings are stored in the database and will be preserved.
